RPF women in Gisozi urged to seize economic opportunity

Women members of the RPF Inkotanyi in Gisozi Sector have been urged to make use of the opportunity put in place by the RPF-led government to create wealth for themselves and their families, and by extension, the country.

This call was made by Eng. Coletha Ruhamya while addressing a general assembly for the women league of the RPF Inkotanyi in Gisozi Sector in Gasabo District at the weekend.

According to Ruhamya, it was embarrassing that some women forego the opportunities that have been availed to empower the Rwandan woman, to venture into illegal and informal trade of ‘agataro’.

“It is very sad that our women shun this kind of opportunity to venture into this degrading form of trade. As women in this sector, let make it our obligation to ensure that our women are mainstreamed into formal trade,” said Ruhamya, an RPF member, who also doubles as the Director General of the Rwanda Environmental Management Authority (REMA).

She challenged those with capacities in different sector to each play their respective role to help these women, and ensure no women from the sector remains on the street as a vendor.

According to Esperance Mukangarambe, the chairperson of the RPF women league in Gisozi, the members gave themselves until the end of this year, to ensure no woman remain on the street in this sector.
