FPR-Inkotanyi SG, UK envoy discuss youth empowerment, education

The Secretary General of FPR-Inkotanyi, Christophe Bazivamo, and Deputy Secretary General Stephen Gasana held discussions with British High Commissioner to Rwanda Alison Thorpe

The Secretary General of FPR-Inkotanyi, Christophe Bazivamo, and Deputy Secretary General Stephen Gasana held discussions with British High Commissioner to Rwanda Alison Thorpe on September 24, 2026, on strengthening cooperation in youth empowerment, knowledge exchange and education, among other areas.

Cooperation between Rwanda and the United Kingdom extends to the creative industries, where initiatives seek to equip young people with skills, expand professional networks and create opportunities for entrepreneurship.

One such initiative is the Rwanda Fashion Entrepreneurs Programme, launched in November 2025 through a partnership involving the University of Westminster, the British High Commission in Rwanda, the British Council, the Rwanda High Commission in the UK and Inzira Creative Partners. It aims to support emerging Rwandan fashion entrepreneurs and strengthen links between the two countries’ creative economies.

The British Council’s New Narratives programme also seeks to build stronger connections between young people in Africa and the UK, providing opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

In education, UK-backed initiatives support teacher development, English-language proficiency and access to higher education through scholarship programmes such as Chevening.

These areas of cooperation offer opportunities to strengthen people-to-people links, develop young talent and expand the contribution of education and creative enterprise to Rwanda’s development.
